In short: Compossible sets no cookies. It does not use Google Analytics or any advertising tracker, and no Google code runs on its pages.
Who runs this site #
Compossible is written and published by Peter Howitt in Gibraltar. You can email me at email (needs JavaScript).
Hosting and visit statistics: Cloudflare #
The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic details of each request, such as the page asked for and the browser type. It uses them to deliver the page and to protect the site from attack.
I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It uses no cookies or local storage, and it does not fingerprint visitors. I see only totals, such as page views per post, which also decide the order of the “Most read” row on the homepage. If you prefer not to be counted, most content blockers stop the analytics script, and the site works normally without it.
Settings kept in your browser #
If you switch between light and dark mode, or between list and grid view, the site remembers your choice in your browser’s local storage (compossible-theme and compossible-view). These stay on your device and are not sent to anyone. Nothing is stored unless you use those switches, and you can clear them at any time in your browser’s settings.
Google #
The site’s fonts are served from this site, so reading a page sends nothing to Google. Google Search indexes Compossible as it does any public website. I use Google Search Console to see how pages appear in search results, which shows aggregate searches and clicks, not who you are.
Links to other sites #
The share buttons are plain links: nothing is sent to LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Bluesky or WhatsApp unless you click one, and then that service’s own privacy terms apply. Images in posts are served from this site too.
Your rights #
I do not keep personal data about readers. The only processing is what Cloudflare does on my behalf to host the site and count visits. You can ask me what data is held about you, using the contact route above. If you are unhappy with the answer, you can complain to the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority or, in the UK, to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
