Mantle
Poem 2 of 10 in Canto for David, poems about Israel and Palestine
Each day we watch
Astonished
As you grow in strength
Into your blood feathers
Terrifying juvenile
Your prayers are for prey
All you see is your suffering
Everything not you
Must be sacrificed, slew
Awed
As you spread your wings
Covering part of the world
With darkness
Falling fast into your
Kill
Tyranny
Fully-fledged
*dedicated to Gideon Levy
